Storms came by surprise Thursday morning, and caused some damage to areas in Barry County. KSMU’s Adam Murphy reports.
According to the Barry County Office of Emergency Management, several businesses along Highway 60 in Monett were damaged and some were destroyed. David Compton is the Director of Emergency Management for Barry County.
“We do know that the Pizza Hut there in Monett has been completely destroyed. A barbeque restaurant along 60 highway received heavy damage, as did a rental store, a bank, and one of our industries Wells Aluminum all received roof type damage,” he said.
Compton said there have also been some power outages throughout the county. He confirmed that there were no injuries, as most of the businesses were not open at the early hour of the storms.
The Springfield-Greene County Office of Emergency Management confirmed that there were no tornado touch downs in the countyThursday morning, and no damage has been reported.
