The “Sandwich Generation” is the term used to describe middle aged adults who find themselves taking care of older relatives, while also rearing their own children, all under one roof. Local author W.D. Blackmon’s 2011 novel “Blood and Milk: A Novel in Stories,” highlights some of the struggles and pleasures of a woman who finds herself part of the sandwich generation. KSMU’ Samuel Crowe sat down with Dr. Blackmon to discuss his novel and the impact it’s had on readers facing similar dilemmas.
