Multi-Agency Relief Center to Close Today in Waynesville

The Multi-Agency Relief Center in Waynesville will close today.  The center opened last week after flooding caused widespread damage and killed two people in that area.

The Red Cross says the center, located in Westside Baptist Church in Waynesville, will close at 6 tonight.  It opens at 10 this morning for its final day.

The center offers information and assistance from several county, local, state and non-profit agencies to anyone affected by the recent flooding.

According to the Red Cross, the center opened Tuesday, and, as of Wednesday, 222 representatives of families from flooded areas registered at the MARC.

The Red Cross will continue to offer services after the MARC closes on a case-by-case basis.  The number to call for help is 1-866-815-2738.

Meanwhile, officials in Pulaski County say at least 90 percent of the county's roads were damaged by the flooding.

Presiding commissioner Gene Newkirk says the damage to 65 percent of the county's roadways is considered major.  About two dozen low-water crossing were washed out and remain closed.
