Nancy Farmer Campaigns at the Convention

The Democratic National Convention is underway this week and U.S. Senate Candidate Nancy Farmer of Missouri spoke to the convention Tuesday evening. KSMU's Katie Hummel reports.

MISSOURI DELEGATES GOT TO SEE ONE OF THEIR OWN WALK ONTO THE MAIN STAGE TUESDAY NIGHT.

MISSSOURI STATE TREASURER AND U.S. SENATE CANDIDATE NANCY FARMER SPOKE AT THE DEMOCRATIC NATIONAL CONVENTION ON BEHALF OF JOHN KERRY, THE STATE OF MISSOURI AND HER OWN CANDIDACY.

FARMER, WHO IS RUNNING AGAINST REPUBLICAN INCUMBANT KIT BOND, SAYS THE WHOLE EXPERIENCE WAS SURREAL.

FARMER SAYS HER SENATE RACE HAS ALLOWED HER TO CONNECT WITH PEOPLE ALL ACROSS THE NATION.

SHE SAYS SHE'S EVEN MORE AWARE THAT IT'S NOT JUST MISSOURIANS WHO ARE HURTING.

AND ACCORDING TO FARMER THE FACT THAT SHE'S A WOMAN RUNNING IN A KEY POLITICAL RACE PUTS HER AT AN ADVATANGE.

SHE SAYS THE ISSUES SHE CARES ABOUT AS A WOMAN, ARE THE ISSUES THAT ARE OF CONCERN TO BOTH MEN AND WOMEN ALIKE.

SO WHAT'S THE NEXT STEP FOR FARMER WHEN THE CONVENTION IS OVER?

FARMER SAYS SHE WILL CONTINUE TO TRAVEL THROUGHOUT THE STATE OF MISSOURI AS PART OF HER CAMPAIGN.

FROM THE DEMOCRATIC NATIONAL CONVENTION IN BOSTON, I'M KATIE HUMMEL FOR KSMU NEWS.
