The Greater Ozarks Leadership Development program or GOLD is seeking applicants. The new program targets leaders all over Southwest Missouri, especially those in smaller communities. KSMU's Missy Shelton reports.
GOLD is a new program offered through Missouri State University's Community and Social Issues Institute.
It's designed to teach leadership skills to community leaders throughout the region.
Gerry Lee is program coordinator for the GOLD program.
He says he expects GOLD to appeal to a wide range of people.
The GOLD program begins in October.
Participants will meet once a month to explore a new topic.
Lee says the goal is to create a network of people from all over Southwest Missouri so they can share experiences and learn from each other.
In seeking to provide connections among smaller communities in the area, Lee says he hopes to overcome some of the rivalries that exist.
Lloyd Young is director of the Community and Social Issues Institute, which oversees the GOLD program.
He says GOLD will provide leaders with a non-competitive forum where they can share ideas and challenges.
Space in the GOLD program is limited...Information is available by calling 417-766-2818.
