New Medical Clinic Opens in Mountain Grove

People in the Mountain Grove area will now have more access to healthcare thanks to a new regional branch of the Texas County Memorial Hospital that opened Monday. KSMU’s Royal Yates has more.

Jolene Durham, Public Relations Director at the hospital in Houston, says the new location in Mountain Grove makes sense.

“The hospital has clinics located throughout Texas county, and we’ve always considered portions of Wright county to be in our service area. Many people in Mountain Grove have considered TCMH to be their local hospital even though they are about 25 to 30 miles away.”

The new facility will feature a clinic as well as an ambulance dispatch center, which could almost cut the driving time of emergency vehicles traveling from the hospital in Houston to Mountain Grove in half. Durham says there is one other large benefit that will be offered to the new clinic’s community.

“There is currently nobody full-time in Mountain Grove who offers obstetrics to that area, so this is something that’s definitely needed. We do have some doctors who go from Houston to there, but we are hoping to put in a family practice physician who also can do obstetrics in that clinic.”

The new clinic will house the ambulance base, three healthcare providers, two full-time physicians, and a mid-level physician’s assistant.
