The Nixa Fire Department recently received nearly 83,000 dollars in a grant from the federal government titled "assistance to Firefighters Grant Awards". KSMU's Christy Hendricks reports.
The Nixa Fire District recently received a federal grant totaling over 92-thousand dollars.
Bryan Newberry is the assistant chief with the Nixa Fire District.
He says the 92-thousand includes a 10-percent cost share that the district pays.
Newberry says the grant money will be used to install diesel exhaust removal systems in the four Nixa stations and says the grant will benefit the health of the firefighters.
