Founded in 1950, Opera in the Ozarks at Inspiration Point is an annual summer opera festival as well as one of America's most prominent training programs for aspiring opera singers. Opera in the Ozarks is located seven miles west of Eureka Springs, Arkansas, on Highway 62 at Inspiration Point, a look-out site situated atop Candy Rock Mountain between the White River Valley and Beaver Lake. The season continues through July 17 with a double-bill of Leoncavallo's Pagliacci and Humperdinck's Hansel & Gretel; Massenet's Manon; and Britten's comedy Albert Herring. Curtain time is 8pm each evening, with a pre-performance talk at 7:30. Friday through Sunday July 10-12, Opera in the Ozarks hosts its annual "Arkansas, The Natural State... for Opera!" weekend, featuring performances of Manon Friday 7/10, and the Pagliacci/Hansel & Gretel double-bill on Saturday the 11th. Arkansas Governor Mike Beebe even issued an Official Proclamation declaring July 10 through 12 as "Arkansas, The Natural State for Opera Weekend."
