Pro Musica Joplin presents the Foothills Brass Quintet from Canada, with a program to show kids how music is put together, Saturday Dec.4th at 11:00am at Saint Paul's United Methodist Church, 2423 W. 26th Street in Joplin. Step-by-step they'll create songs using the building blocks of tone, rhythm, melody and harmony, and highlight how these building blocks are used in other songs the kids already know. A lucky volunteer will get to conduct, and everyone will receive instructions on building would-be brass instruments out of household items. The program, while aimed at elementary school-age kids, will be fun and informative for all ages. Tickets are being sold at Cleo's Picture Framing and Ernie Williamson Music in Joplin; All Things Grand in Carthage and Joplin; area Southwest Missouri Bank branches; and at the Pro Musica office, 211 S. Main Suite 312 in Joplin. Call 625-1822 or visit www.promusicajoplin.org for more information. The Foothills Brass Quintet’s appearance in Joplin is funded in part by St. John’s Regional Medical Center, and the Missouri Arts Council, a state agency.
