Professor Discusses the Battle of Wilson’s Creek

National battlefield offers education, fun, relaxation

Just 150 years ago, the first Civil War battle fought west of the Mississippi River happened at Wilson’s Creek outside of Springfield, Mo. According to Dr. Bill Piston, professor of history at Missouri State University,the Battle of Wilson’s Creek was important to Missouri’s role in the Civil War.

Wilson’s Creek National Battlefield offers many education resources, as well as fun and recreational activities.
