'Project Access' Will Address Needs of Students With Autism

The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education has awarded Dr. Dennis Kear, Dean of the College of Education at Missouri State University, over a half million dollars to fund “Project Access.” KSMU’s Chasity Mayes reports.

The project will provide support and technical help to Missouri school districts serving students with autism. Some of that help will come in the form of on-site and telephone consultations as well as support via the internet. The project will also train credentialed people on how to present courses through Missouri's Regional Professional Development Center. These trainings are offered to Missouri school district staff and educators who work with children and adolescents up to the age of 21 with Autism spectrum disorder.

For KSMU News, I'm Chasity Mayes.
