The American Red Cross has added more disaster team members to help about 200 Joplin victims at the shelter in Missouri Southern State University’s Young Gym. KSMU’s Matthew Barnes reports.
The additional aid includes a mental health specialist, as well as a “Safe and Well” team. The Safe and Well team’s website provides a place where people can register to let others know that they are safe.
The Red Cross and its partner agencies also plan to open a Multi-Agency Resource Center where they will provide individual assistance to Joplin area families.
The Red Cross says it is accepting donations for the disaster at 1-800-REDCROSS or www.redcross.org.
For KSMU News, I’m Matthew Barnes.
