So many people responded to the Community Blood Center of the Ozarks’ call for blood Monday to help the victims of the Joplin tornado that the blood center has lifted the code red appeal for O negative blood.CBCO officials say donors still need to give blood but any emergency response for tornado victims can be halted for now.CBCO executive director Don Thomson says they need to spread out donations over the next weeks and even months to make certain that area needs are met through the summer. He says, after shipping over 150 units of blood to the tornado stricken area Sunday night, the community response Monday was overwhelming. Donors lined up to give at CBCO donor centers in Springfield, Joplin, Springdale and Bentonville.
