In a press conference held Monday at Missouri State University, Democrat Sara Lampe announced her plans to run for Missouri Lt. Governor. KSMU’s Theresa Bettmann has this report.
Sara Lampe is on the state’s budget committee in Missouri’s House of Representatives, serving the 138thdistrict. She is a small business owner, as well as a retired teacher, and school administrator. Lampe says the position of Lt. Governor is one of advocacy. She says she feels her combined experience, along with her ability to speak out for Missouri’s vulnerable citizens, make her the best candidate for the job.
“I’ve looked carefully at the people already in the race, and the skills needed to be able to do this job. I’m the one who comes to the table with those skills. And it is clear to me that we need this kind of mature leadership,” says Lampe.
Also being from southwest Missouri herself, Lampe adds that Springfield and Branson are two of the top four destinations in the state for tourism. She says she feels it just makes sense to have a Lt. Governor who also sits on the commission for tourism for the state, be from southwest Missouri. For KSMU News, I’m Theresa Bettmann.
