Springfield will play host to Kentucky Senator Rand Paul in February as part of the annual Lincoln Days event.
The Missouri Republican Party and Missouri Association of Republicans announced Monday that Paul will serve as the keynote speaker for the Saturday evening banquet on Feb. 22. The three-day event begins the 21st.
In a written statement, president of the Missouri Association of Republicans Nick Meyers thanked U.S. Senator Roy Blunt in helping to acquire Paul for the evening.
The 2014 Lincoln Days celebration, taking place at the University Plaza Hotel and Convention Center, will mark the event’s 115th anniversary.
“Lincoln Days has been a celebration that has attracted some of the biggest names in national politics—and this year will be no different. We are excited that Senator Rand Paul will share his vision of our party’s future with Missouri’s elected Republicans, the State Committee and County Chairmen, as well as committed volunteers and activists,” said Ed Martin, Chairman of the Missouri Republican Party.
President Meyers said the organization expects “hundreds of conservative activists and elected officials from all across the state” to attend.
