Severe Weather Possible this Morning in the Ozarks

Severe weather is a real possibility today in the Ozarks. KSMU's Michele Skalicky has more...

Severe weather is making its way toward the Ozarks. Steve Runnels is a meteorologist with the National Weather Service Office in Springfield...

"We do have a storm getting ready to cross the Kansas/Missouri border over near Nevada. That storm is capable of producing 80 mph winds, but our big attention is the storms farther west that's formed into a squall line. That's just going to race eastward across the area at about 60, 70 maybe even 75 miles per hour."

Runnels says, unfortunately, it’s looking likely that Southwest Missouri will be affected by some severe weather this morning...

"We've already had reports of some structural damage in Kansas, so as this line of storms races through the area during the morning, people do need to be alert that this is a pretty significant situation."

Although Runnels says these storms will not likely produce any strong or violent tornadoes, he says there WILL be a possibility of tornadoes and winds of 70 to 80 miles per hour. For more information, visitwww.crh.noaa.gov/sgf.
