An international student business organization headquartered in Springfield is getting money to provide internships in three countries. Mike Smith has this report:
A quarter of a million dollar State Department grant will help fund an international exchange program for SIFE, (Students in Free Enterprise) in three countries. The funding comes from the State Department's Office of Education and Cultural Affairs, and is specifically allocated for programs that promote "peace and prosperity". Out of 123 applicants, SIFE was the sole recipient.
In announcing the grant, Southwest Missouri Congressman
Roy Blunt said the money is an investment which nourishes capitalism and will help Islamic countries resume their role as
players in the world economy.
The grant will provide golbal business internships and cultural exchanges between 26 U.S. Students and 13 students each from India and Malaysia.
