A small theatre in downtown Springfield is getting a big change. KSMU's Nathan McVay has more on the rebirth of the 2nd Stage Theatre.
The 2nd Stage Theatre is getting a second chance. After it was closed down over a month ago, the theatre is now reopening under new management. Lou Schaeffer, new executive producer of the Theatre says the Vandivort Theatre will be taking over management and programming.
The new theatre will be called The Vandivort 2nd Stage Theater. Theater staff say they hope to raise the curtain on a new season in August.
The space itself is much smaller than the Vandivort Theater. Schaeffer believes it will provide the audience with a different theatre experience from what they are used to.
Schaeffer says the reopening of the theater creates more opportunities for theatre goers and actors in the community.
