Smithsonian's "New Harmonies" exhibit and performances at Barry County Museum

The Smithsonian Institute's Museum on Main Street exhibit "New Harmonies: Celebrating American Roots Music" will open at the Barry County Museum in Cassville Saturday June 19. The 800-square-foot freestanding display features photographs, recordings, instruments and information tracing the history of American music. More than 45 musical performances, six "informances," children's programs, an American Indian music and dance festival, and a fiddle contest will complement the exhibit, which will continue through July 31st. Eddie Bowman, Robin Brumley and Al Brumley Jr. will kick off the musical performances on Saturday June 19 starting at 6:00pm. Performances will be offered every Friday and Saturday night from 6 to 9pm during the run of the exhibit (except for July 3rd and 4th). Other musical performers will include the Cassville High School Choir, Glory Bound, Timberline, Black Suede, The Englands, and the Cherokee National Youth Choir.
