Two large smoke plumes are on the way to Greene County tonight (April 15) and will make the air unhealthy for the next few hours. KSMU's Jana Greer has more.
The Greene County Health Department is warning area residents of two large smoke plumes that will be over Greene County this evening around 5:30 or 6:00. Jaci McReynolds is the Public Information Administrator for the Greene County Health Department. She explains how to keep safe.
The smoke plumes are from two large controlled fires in Missouri and Arkansas. Children, older adults and those with breathing conditions such as asthma are more at risk from the smoke. McReynolds says some people may experience some symptoms from the smoke.
The health department says it hard to tell how long the smoke will stay in the area, but they do expect it to be here at least a few hours. To get an update about the air quality, you can use the link at KSMU.org.
