At the beginning of the spring semester at SMSU, President John Keiser delivers his final State of the University address.
Mike Smith has the story:
Emphasising SMSU's statewide mission in Public Affairs, the importance of SMSU's major themes, productivity and quality, funding inequities, a name change to Missouri State University, and SMSU's distinction as a multi-campus metropolitan university system, SMS President Dr. John Keiser dilivered his final State of the University Address on Thursday January 6th, 2005.
Keiser, who became SMSU's President in 1993, will retire at the end of June. Just prior to his speech at SMSu's Plaster Student Union Theater, Keiser told KSMU that his approach to his 24th State of the University Address was the same as for his first.
In his speech, Keiser said "Public Affairs is or should be at the heart of every academic discipline and is manifest in many ways at SMS.
When asked by KSMU if the next President of SMSU would continue the tradition of a State of the University Address at the start of each semester, Keiser said every effort at keeping lines of communication open between administrators, faculty and staff should be considered.
