SMSU Centennial book now available

SMSU's academic, athletic, and administrative history is now available to the public. "Daring to Excel: The First Hundred Years of SMSU", can be purchased at the SMS Bookstore. Mike Smith has the story:

After 5 years of planning, research, writing and editing,

"Daring to Excel: The First Hundred Years of Southwest Missouri State University" is now available to the public.

The full color 9x12" coffee table size book, written by SMSU Emeritus Professor Don Landon, features more than 400 pages with 300 photographs and chronicles SMSU's 100 year history.

The Book is organized around the 4 eras characterized by the 4 different names the university has carried since 1905:

The State Normal School period (1905-1918), the Southwest Missouri State Teachers College Period (1919-1946), the Southwest Missouri State College period (1946-1972), and the University period (1972-present).

"Daring to Excel: The first Hundred Years of SMSU", is available now at the SMSU Bookstore, and negotiations are ongoing to make the Book available soon at Barnes and Noble and Borders bookstores.

for KSMU News, I'm Mike Smith.
