A major announcement was made Friday in Arlington, Virgina, concerning patient satisfaction about hospital care across the country. KSMU's Michele Skalicky is in Arlington on a fellowship from the Missouri Foundation for Health and has the story.
US Secretary of Health and Human Services Michael Leavitt helped launch the release of new survey information at the department's Hospital Compare Consumer website.
HHS's center for Medicare and Medicaid services has added information such as whether a particular hospital is accredited or how well doctors and nurses communicated with patients.
Leavitt admits the way care is measured has several weaknesses, but he expects it to gradually improve.
