Spotlight on Local Race Evening Segment

We continue our report on the race for House District 137 as we ask each candidate about their priorities.

REPUBLICAN MARK WRIGHT IS THE INCUMBENT IN THIS RACE.

HE FACES TWO CHALLENGERS: DEMOCRAT BILL SCZEPANSKI AND LIBERTARIAN MELLONY MIZER.

MARK WRIGHT IS RUNNING ON HIS RECORD...HE'S SERVED SIX YEARS IN THE HOUSE.

SCZEPANSKI, WHO HAS AN UNKNOWN NEUROLOGICAL PAIN DISORDER SAYS HE'S RUNNING BECAUSE HE DOESN'T LIKE WHAT MARK WRIGHT AND THE REPUBLICAN MAJORITY HAVE DONE.

BUT WRIGHT SAYS HE'S PROUD OF HIS RECORD.

HE SAYS HE HELPED INCREASE FUNDING FOR SOUTHWEST MISSOURI STATE UNIVERSITY.

AND IF HE'S RE-ELECTED HE SAYS HE'LL CONTINUE TO MAKE EDUCATION FUNDING A PRIORITY.

WRIGHT SAYS ONE OF THE MOST NOTABLE ASPECTS OF HIS RECORD HAS TO DO WITH FUNDING FOR HIS DISTRICT.

WRIGHT SAYS IF HE'S RE-ELECTED THERE ARE SEVERAL ISSUES THAT ARE OF CONCERN TO BUSINESSES IN MISSOURI THAT HE'D LIKE TO ADDRESS.

WRIGHT'S DEMOCRATIC OPPONENT, BILL SCZEPANSKI SAYS HE HAS THREE TOP ISSUES HE WOULD FOCUS ON.

GETTING A CRIME LAB IN SPRINGFIELD IS A PRIORITY ALSO LISTED BY REPUBLICAN MARK WRIGHT.

THE LIBERTARIAN CANDIDATE IN THIS RACE, MELLONY MIZER SAYS IF SHE'S ELECTED, SHE'LL FOCUS ON ISSUES THAT ARE IMPORTANT TO SINGLE MOTHERS.

MIZER SAYS SHE BELIEVES LAWMAKERS SHOULD LOOK AT HOW LAWS ARE BEING ENFORCED BEFORE THEY BEGIN WRITING NEW ONES.

AGAIN, THE CANDIDATES IN THIS RACE ARE REPUBLICAN MARK WRIGHT...HE'S THE INCUMBENT, DEMOCRAT BILL SCZEPANSKI AND LIBERTARIAN MELLONY MIZER.
