Springfield Art Museum exhibits

“Bruce West: Spiritual Advisor to the World, featuring photographs of the found art, as well as the spiritual and creative life, of self-proclaimed Mississippi preacher H.D. Dennis by MSU Art & Design Professor Bruce West” continues at the Springfield Art Museum through January 17. A new exhibit, "Jacob Lawrence: Prints, 1963-2000, A Comprehensive Survey,” showcasing nearly 40 years' worth of work by one of the leading African-American artists of the 20th century, opens at the Springfield Art Museum on Saturday January 16. Lawrence's prints explore universal issues of equality, unity and hope; this exhibit features 82 etchings, woodcuts, silkscreens and lithographs from Lawrence's estate. A preview reception hosted by Southwest Missouri Museum Associates will be held Friday Jan.15 from 5:30 to 7pm; Heidi Lange will give a gallery talk at 2pm Saturday the 16th.
