The City of Springfield has temporarily shut down its website after several of the computers in the city offices were struck by a virus.
Louise Whall, spokesperson for the city, says they shut down the website to prevent the virus from spreading to people who access the site.
“We have found signs of the virus on a couple of documents that were on our internet, so we want to make sure that our internet is scanned and safe before we open it back up, so we don’t aid in any kind of transmission of the virus,” Whall said.Whall says the website will be down for the rest of the day and will be reassessed on Tuesday.
She says if anyone needs to access city information, they can call the Springfield Public Information Department at 864-1010.
