Springfield IRS Office To Relocate

The Internal Revenue Service is moving its taxpayer assistance office in Springfield. KSMU's Jennifer Moore has details.

The current office, at 3333 S. National Avenue, will close on Thursday and reopen it its new location at 2937 Claremont Avenue, Building A, on Monday, January 11.

That's just north of Battlefield, between Lone Pine Avenue and Ingram Mill Road.Michael Devine is the spokesperson for the IRS in Missouri and Kansas.

“The new taxpayer assistance center is bigger, with new and larger interview areas. And that will help better safeguard taxpayer privacy,” he said.

Devine added that taxpayers who have questions can find most of the answers they need through the website: www.irs.gov. For those who need to visit someone in person, the new office will be open Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. It will be closed for lunch between 12:00 noon and 1:00 pm.
