Regal-Beloit, with 330 employees, manufactures electric motors and components. The company says it plans to transfer that manufacturing to its facilities in the U.S. and Mexico over the next 18 months in order to remain globally competitive.
Springfield Mayor Bob Stephens says in a news release that “our hearts go out to the employees who are losing these jobs.”
He reminds the workers that the City of Springfield’s Department of Workforce Development offers a variety of services for dislocated workers.
Those services include re-training, assistance with filing for unemployment benefits and workshops to assist with money management due to job loss, job preparation, resume development, counseling and online application assistance.
