The city of Springfield has been named a tree city by the National Arbor Day Foundation. KSMU's Jana Greer reports.
Springfield received the Tree City Award on Saturday making it the 22nd consecutive year to earn the title and the seventh year to receive the Tree City Growth Award.
Ron Debrock is the Special Projects Coordinator for Springfield. He says he hopes the award will inspire the community to reforest the city after the ice storm in January.
The awards recognize a community that takes care of its trees and also educates the community about trees.
