Springfield Public School students are lacing up their shoes and getting ready to run for the All-Youth Relay for Life. KSMU’s Alvin Chen reports.
Relay for Life is the signature fund-raising activity for the American Cancer Society. It offers the community an opportunity to participate in the fight against cancer.
The All-Youth Relay for Life is happening on Friday, April 17th from 6 pm until 6 am on Saturday, April 18th, at Central High School’s Harrison Stadium.
Kimberly McCracken is with the American Cancer Society. She says 92 teams are currently registered, and the public is more than welcome to come out to the event.
Last year’s All-Youth relay raised more than $125,000. McCracken says this year times are a little different.
McCracken also says Relay for Life is a community event. Other relays across the area include a relay at Missouri State University on April 24th, and Relay for Life of Springfield at Hillcrest High School on May 15th and 16th.
For KSMU News, I'm Alvin Chen.
