In conjunction with the address, Governor Matt Blunt will unveil his budget proposal for fiscal year 2008, which begins in July. On Tuesday, Blunt announced that he will propose spending 214 million dollars in new money on public schools.

Blunt made the announcement during a luncheon in Jefferson City hosted by the Missouri School Boards' Association.

Blunt's announcement was met with mixed reviews...While school officials say they're thankful for the increase, some worry it may not be enough to cover the rising costs of operations.

Democratic Representative Sara Lampe is a former teacher and principal.

She says the governor's increase is not enough.

There was news today that Blunt will propose doubling the amount of scholarship money going to needy college students.

The most anticipated part of Blunt's address will be the presentation of the governor's new Medicaid program.

Blunt is scheduled to travel the state tomorrow to promote the plan.
