Taneycomo Waters Rise

Flooding continues on Lake Taneycomo in Taney County. Michele Skalicky has more.

Flood waters on Lake Taneycomo in Hollister and Branson continued to cause problems today. Scotty's Marina just south of Branson Landing broke loose early this morning, prompting city officials to close the Taneycomo Bridge for awhile—it's since reopened.

Workers used 4-thousand-pound concrete blocks and steel cables to secure it in the middle of the lake, 100 feet upstream from the Taneycomo bridge, and that's where it will stay until waters recede and it can be moved back into place.

Jerry Adams is spokesman for the city of Branson.

The Army Corps of Engineers released water at a rate of 33,000 cubic feet per second Thursday afternoon. Last night, that amount was increased to 45,000 cfs—a new record for Table Rock Dam.

Adams says they don't anticipate any more evacuations.

15 homes are flooded so far in neighborhoods to the west of the Branson City Campgrounds, and flood waters are close to entering another 10 to 15 homes.

A Red Cross Shelter is open at the United Methodist Church on W. Highway 76 for victims of the flood.

The high waters in Taneycomo inundated the fire-shooting fountains at Branson Landing, and the Boardwalk, but Adams says those were made to withstand floods.
