"Temperance Tantrums," a musical spoof of a Victorian temperance rally, makes its Arkansas premiere at the Grand Central Hotel in Eureka Springs on May 14. The features boisterous barroom comedy along with authentic period music as temperance supporters attempt to persuade bar patrons to forswear "Demon Rum" and vote for prohibition. However, the show's writer and producer Andrea Kehmeier says audience members will definitely be able to enjoy THEIR favorite beverage during the show! Based on actual accounts of 19th-century temperance rallies, "Temperance Tantrums" uses a quartet of professional singer-actors playing the founders of the "The Eternal Sword Temperance Union;" the show combines elements of musical theatre, melodrama, improv comedy and audience involvement. Performances at the Grand Central Hotel, 37 North Main in Eureka Springs, will be Tuesday through Thursday May 14-16 with dinner at 7:00pm and show starting at 8. Tickets are $50 per person.
