Members of the Springfield community are welcome to join in the Missouri State University in this year’s homecoming festivities, which take place this weekend. The theme this year is “Maroon On. Game On!” KSMU’s Rebekah Clark talks about the events happening all over town this week.
MSU Homecoming weekend festivities will officially start Oct. 28th with an MSU Alumni Association sponsored dinner and awards ceremony. That event is open to the public, but tickets are required.
Other Homecoming events include the MSU Homecoming 5K Walk/Run on Saturday, Oct. 29th. The run will begin at 7 a.m. in front of the Plaster Student Union. Participants can pre-register for $15, students can participate for $10.
At 9 o’clock Saturday morning, the Homecoming Parade will march down John Q. Hammons Parkway. The Parade will begin on St. Louis Street and end on Grand.
Tailgating will commence shortly after the parade at 10 a.m. in BearFest Village just south of the Plaster Sports Complex.
The Homecoming Football Game will kickoff at 2 p.m.
Also on Saturday, a Golden Bears Luncheon will be held for any alumni who graduated more than fifty years ago. That luncheon will begin at 11.
