Looking for something to do this weekend? Here are some ideas...
  • The Springfield Conservation Nature Center invites you to an Owl Prowl tonight (12/9) from 6:30 to 9 at the Bois D’Arc Conservation Area.  Meet at the Nature Center and carpool to listen for owls.  It’s part of the Discover Nature Families series.  To register, 888-4237. 
  • The MSU Beartones will give a concert tonight (12/9) at 7 in Plaster Student Union, room 200.  Admission is $5.
  • The Christmas Ball to benefit the Eureka Springs Historical Museum is tonight (12/9) at 7 at the 1905 Basin Park Hotel.  To learn more, 479-253-9417.
  • Tonight (12/9) is Open Mic Night at the Park Central Branch Library.  For more information, 831-1342.
  • A dance is held at the West Plains Senior Center each Friday night at 7.  Admission is $4, and all ages are welcome.
  • Horse-drawn carriage rides will be offered tonight and tomorrow night (12/9-12/10) in Downtown Springfield as part of the Festival of Lights.  To find out more, www.itsalldowntown.com.
  • Wilson’s Creek National Battlefield invites you to the 8thannual Memorial Luminary Driving Tour tomorrow (12/10) from 4:30 to 9:30 pm.  Luminaries will be placed on the five-mile tour road to honor the soldiers who were casualties of the Battle of Wilson’s Creek.  There will be carolers and refreshments at the Visitor Center.  Admission is free.  For more information, 732-2662.
  • Christmas at the Farm continues this weekend at Rutledge-Wilson Community Farm Park.  Watch candy-making and wreath-making demonstrations, visit with Santa, make crafts and more.  For details, www.parkboard.org.
  • Kids can make free art during Free Art Day tomorrow morning (12/10) from 10 to noon at the Creamery Arts Center.  Crafts include wrapping paper printmaking, holiday necklaces, glass ball ornaments and cookie decorating. 
  • The Springfield Christmas Parade is tomorrow afternoon (12/10) at 1 and goes from the corner of South and Elm, north on South Ave., clockwise around the square, down Park Central East, north on Kimbrough, right on Trafficway and will end at Jordan Valley Park.
  • The West Plains Christmas Parade will start at 1 pm tomorrow (12/10) along Porter Wagoner Blvd. from Missouri Ave. to Arkansas St.
  • Mediacom Ice Park invites you to ice skate for free tomorrow night (12/10) at 5:30.  You’ll have to pay $2.50 for skate rental.  It’s part of Springfield’s Festival of Lights Celebration.
  • The Heart of the Ozarks Bluegrass Association presents LeRoy Troy and the Hillbilly Trio and the Tennessee Gentlemen in the Acoustic Concert Series tomorrow night (12/10) at 7 at the Avenue Theatre in West Plains.  Tickets are $10.  To learn more, www.theavenuetheatre.com.
  • The City of Battlefield will host its 7thannual Santa in the City tomorrow morning (12/10) from 9 to 11 at City Hall, 5434 S. Tower Drive.  Take a non-perishable food item and receive a picture with Santa and a free pancake breakfast.  For more information, 883-5840.

  • The Gillioz Theatre will show the film “It’s a Wonderful Life” tomorrow (12/10) at 2 and 6 pm.  Tickets are $5 at the Gillioz box office and are available beginning one hour before show time. 
  • Kids can have breakfast with Santa during an event tomorrow morning (12/10) from 8 to 11 at the West Plains Civic Center.  Children under ten get in free with one paid adult. 
  • The Springfield Conservation Nature Center will have a Discovery Table set up tomorrow (12/10) from 10 to 3.  Stop by anytime to make holiday ornaments from natural materials.  For more information, 888-4237.
  • The Library Center will show the classic comedy, “My Man Godfrey,” tomorrow afternoon (12/10) at 2.  It’s part of the series “Saturday Afternoon at the Movies:  Screwball Comedies of the 1930s.”  For details, 882-0714.
