Weekend Outlook January 4-6, 2013

Here are some ideas for things to do this weekend in the Ozarks
  • A dance is held each Friday night at 7 at the West Plains Senior Center.  Admission is $4, and all ages are welcome.
  • Acoustic Jam on the Square is held Friday nights at West Plains Music Store on the West Plains Square.  Take instruments and lawn chairs.
  • The History Museum for Springfield-Greene County, 155 Park Central Square, is hosting the exhibit “Sun, Sports and Summer Fun:  A Celebration of the 100thAnniversary of Springfield-Greene County Park Board” through March 15th.  Hours today and tomorrow (1/4 & 1/5) are 10:30 to 4:30.  Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for children.
  • Dickerson Park Zoo is open today, tomorrow and Sunday (1/4-1/6) from 10 to 4 each day.  For more information, 833-1570.
  • The zoo will offer programs for kids in 2ndand 3rdgrades tomorrow morning (1/5) from 9 to 11 and Sunday (1/6) from 1 to 3.  Registration is required, and there is a fee.  To learn more, 833-1570.
  • The Little Acorns program “Regal Eagles,” for kids ages three to six, will be held today (1/4) at 11 and 1:30 and tomorrow (1/5) at 11 at the Springfield Conservation Nature Center.  To register, 888-4237.
  • Tonight (1/4) is “Teen Friday Nights” at the Library Station.  Kids in grades six through 12 are invited for games, crafts and more.  To learn more, 865-1340.
  • The Holiday Train Exhibit by the Ozark Garden Railway Society is at the Springfield-Greene County Botanical Center through today (1/4).  The center is located in Nathanael Greene/Close Memorial Park on S. Scenic.
  • See the exhibit “Civil War in Missouri” tonight (1/4) at 6 at the Park Central Branch Library as part of the First Friday Art Walk.  For more information, 831-1342.
  • The Springfield-Greene County Park Board Outdoor Initiatives invites you on a guided hike tomorrow morning (1/5) at 9:30 at Ritter Springs Park and tomorrow afternoon at 1:30 at Valley Water Mill.  For details, 833-8647.
  • Anyone 18 and older may attend the program “Paper Crafting 101:  Intermediate” tomorrow afternoon (1/5) at 2 at the Brentwood Branch Library.  To register, 883-1974.
  • It’s “Saturday Matinee at the Library” tomorrow afternoon (1/5) at 4 at the Fair Grove Branch Library.  See the film “Finding Neverland,” rated PG.
