  • The Wilson’s Creek Farmers’ Market opens at 4:30 this afternoon (5/28) and is open every Friday at First Baptist Church of Battlefield at FF and Weaver Rd.
  • The Greater Springfield Farmers’ Market opens tomorrow morning (5/29) at 8:30 in the southeast corner of the Battlefield Mall parking lot.

  • The Andy Dalton Shooting Range and Outdoor Education Center will offer a class on rifle shooting basics tomorrow morning (7/3) at 8:30 for anyone 11 and older. Take your own unloaded rifle or use equipment provided by the range staff. To register, 742-4361.

  • The Midtown Neighborhood Association will host the Springfield Old Fashion 4th of July Parade and Celebration Sunday (7/4) from 1 to 4. The parade will begin at the parking lots north of Central High School and will travel north on Benton, thru Midtown and will end up at Washington Park.   • Shell Knob’s Fire & Thunder Fireworks Display is Sunday (7/4) beginning at around 9:30 pm. There are viewing locations from land and water. The Shell Knob 4th of July parade will start at 6 pm Sunday. For more information: www.shellknob.com.
  • The Rockaway Beach Fireworks Extravaganza is Sunday (7/4). The day kicks off with the National Anthem at 10:30 am. There will also be a motorcycle show, rides and games for the kids from 5 to 8 pm, live music, food and more. For more information, 417-561-4280.

  • Cool off over the long holiday weekend at Springfield Public Pools. They’re offering extended hours. Fassnight, Doling, Silver Springs and Meador Pools will be open from noon to 5:30 Sunday (7/4) for a Splash-N-Sizzle event. Admission is one dollar or a canned food item.
