Wilson's Creek National Battlefield will kick off its 3rd annual Arts in the Park event this Saturday. The event brings live music to the battlefield. Ksmu's Jana Greer reports
For the third year in a row Wilson's Creek National Battlefield is having a live music event at the park. Ted Hilmer is the Superintendent of Wilson's Creek National Battlefield. He says he hopes the event will bring out people who normally would not go to the battlefield.
Every Saturday evening from May 5 to June 9 there will be a different performance by traveling and local groups. The first performance this Saturday will be by Jim and Suzanne, a duo from California that perform songs from the mid 1800s.
Hilmer says the event is designed to raise awareness about what Wilson's Creek has to offer.
The Arts in the Park event will start this Saturday at 7:00 pm in front of the visitor center at Wilson's Creek National Battlefield. The performance will last for about an hour. The event is free and open to the public.
