The weather is mild today, but things will be different when you wake up tomorrow.
Andy Boxell (BOX-ull), meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Springfield, says winter precipitation will start tomorrow between mid morning to early afternoon and will continue into Friday.
"Right now it looks like the heaviest precipitation will likely fall along and to the south of Interstate 44 with sleet and snow eventually changing over to all snow in the immediate Springfield area and then as you go further south into Branson and the heart of the Ozarks, little bit more of a wintry mix that will eventually change over to all now," he said.
Boxell says we could see quite a range of snowfall even just across Greene County from northwest to southeast.
He says a very cold air mass dropping south from Canada and the Northern Plains of the U.S. is responsible for the winter weather headed our way.
Temperatures overnight this weekend will be in the single digits.
