Woman of Distinction Award to Honor an Ozarks Woman

Missouri State University's Women's History Month Committee will soon choose a winner for the fourth annual Ozarks woman of Distinction Award. KSMU's Christy Hendricks reports.

Missouri State University's Women's History Month Committee seeks nominations for the fourth annual Ozarks Woman of Distinction Award.

Deborah Cox is an associate professor in the Counseling Department at Missouri State.

She says the award recognizes a woman who positively influences the lives of women in the Ozarks as part of Women's History Month in March.

Cox says nominations are open to all women in the Ozarks.

She says the award and Women's History Month serve as a way for younger women to learn from older women.

Deborah Cox says multiculturalism will be the flavor of Women's History Month this year for the Ozarks.

Nominations for the Ozarks Woman of Distinction Award should be submitted by February 1st to Deborah Cox and should include contact information for the nominee and a brief description of her contributions.

The awards ceremony will be March 6th in conjunction with a presentation from the Alliance of Business and Special Organizations.

A specially designed sculpture will be given to the winner of the award.
