The Wooley Creek Bluegrass Festival takes place all day Saturday Oct.9 at the Wooley Creek School building, a 110-year-old stone structure a few miles west of Cape Fair. The festival gets underway at 9:00am with the Southern Missouri String Band; KSMU's Mike Smith will emcee the event. Proceeds are used for preservation of the school building and a display of photographs and school memorabilia. Other bands scheduled to perform on Oct.9: Crazy Mule; the Mississippi Sawyers; Lonesome Road; Missouri Boatride; and Bluegrass Brigade. Each band will play twice during the day and evening. Directions to the festival: Take Missouri 76 to 3 and a half miles west of Cape Fair; turn south on Wooley Creek Road, and the old schoolhouse is a couple of miles down the road.
