Young Writers Workshop Oct.17

Award-winning author Patricia McKissack will present a Young Writers Workshop to kick off activities for the 21st National African American Read-In Chain in Springfield. McKissack, who received the Newbery Honor Book Award for The Dark-Thirty: Southern Tales of the Supernatural, will present "Finding Your Own Voice" from 9:30 to 11:30 am on Saturday, October 17, in Meyer Library Auditorium on the Missouri State University campus. In the workshop, which is free and open to any middle-school and high school students, will discuss how a writer finds his or her voice in writing either fiction or non-fiction. McKissack will present techniques writers use to develop and project their own unique voices. For registration information call 862-0135.
