In today’s fast paced world, it’s easy to become over committed. It’s also easy for kids’ lives to become so scheduled that there is little time left for unstructured play. Dr. Joanna Cemore-Brigden, associate professor of childhood education and family studies, specializes in research on children’s play. She said there are many reasons have less time to just play.

Dr. Jeffrey Cornelius-White, professor of counseling, leadership and special education at Missouri State University, and his former Missouri State colleague Dr. Chantal Levesque-Bristol have developed a Public Affairs Scale. The scale measures how well Missouri State University is doing in developing community engagement, cultural competence and ethical leadership in its students and graduates.
