The Springfield Regional Arts Council's "Speaking of the Arts," a professional development series for area artists and arts organizations, presents monthly talks by experts who lecture on trends, best practices, and resources for the local arts community to continue to thrive and enhance overall economic and cultural development. The Arts Council will present “Annual Giving Fundamentals for Arts and Cultural Organizations” with Bob Swaney, Founder and CEO of Robert Swaney Consulting Inc. on Wednesday December 12 from 5:30 to 7:00pm in the board room at The Creamery Arts Center, 411 Sherman Parkway. For 25 years Swaney has helped arts and cultural organizations develop sustainable high-leverage/high-return fundraising programs. He'll discuss the fundamentals needed to create a successful Annual Fund program for non-profit arts and cultural organizations. The focus will be on board and staff involvement in fundraising, along with planning and preparation, budgeting and goal setting, tactics and timing, and general philosophies and practical wisdom designed to make an organization's annual fundraising program run at peak performance. Admission is free for Arts Council members and $10 for nonmembers. Registration is not required for these events but is appreciated. Funding for Speaking of the Arts is provided by the Community Foundation of the Ozarks and the Missouri Arts Council. For more information call 862-2787(ARTS) or visit www.springfieldarts.org.
