Artsfest on Walnut Street is "Taking it to the Street," celebrating 32 years of art, food, fun and spring-time. The annual fine arts festival, presented this year by CoxHealth, will take place Saturday and Sunday May 5 & 6 on Historic Walnut Street and will feature over 140 artists from across the country. Show hours are 10am-6pm on Saturday and 10am-5pm on Sunday. As the largest fine arts festival in Southwest Missouri, Artsfest attracts over 20,000 people every year to shop for original art, sample food from some of Springfield’s favorite restaurants, and enjoy dozens of performances. Artsfest also features an interactive kid’s area with activities for children including Chalk-It-Up and the Springfield Pottery’s Claymobile, a mobile ceramic arts workshop. This year Artsfest has formed a new partnership with the Art of Space collaborative from Drury University, which creates highly interactive, temporary art installations at Drury and around the community. The group will construct a giant inflatable art display at the festival for patrons to interact with and explore. Artsfest tickets are $3 in advance at area McDonald’s restaurants beginning April 23rd and will be $5 at the gate. Children age 5 and under get in free. Artsfest is a Springfield Regional Arts Council event and is managed by the Urban Districts Alliance.
