Walton Arts Center in Fayetteville will present the national touring company of the iconic 60s musical HAIR to Northwest Arkansas for three performances: Friday, February 22 at 8pm and Saturday February 23 at 2pm & 8pm. "Hair," which includes chart-topping hits such as "Aquarius," "Hair," "Let the Sun Shine In" and "Good Morning Starshine," energetically depicts the birth of a cultural movement in the '60s and '70s that changed America forever. A group of charismatic, free-spirited young people passionately preach a lifestyle of pacifism and free-love in a society riddled with intolerance and brutality during the Vietnam War. The show contains adult themes and situations as well as a bit of nudity and thus may be unsuitable for younger audiences. This critically-acclaimed revival won the 2009 Tony Award for Best Musical Revival and numerous other awards. The Washington "Post" called this production"irresistible--the best version yet." It includes an exuberant finale in which audience members are invited onstage to dance with the cast, offering a level of inclusiveness rarely seen in musical theater.
