Opera in the Ozarks at Inspiration Point is a unique training program and opera festival founded in 1950 for all singers interested in pursuing a career in opera. Their alumni have sung on all the major operatic stages of the world. Four weeks of intensive rehearsals under the direction of a professional staff lead to a month of performances. Opera in the Ozarks is located seven miles west of Eureka Springs on Route 62, at Inspiration Point between the White River Valley and Beaver Lake. The 63rd Season of Opera in the Ozarks at Inspiration Point will feature Puccini’s Madama Butterfly, Donizetti’s L’Elisir d’Amore and Gilbert & Sullivan’s The Pirates of Penzance. The season opens Friday June 21st with Madama Butterfly; all performances start at 7:30pm. The season runs through July 19 and includes performances of Pirates of Penzance (Sunday June 30), Elixir (Sun. July 7) and Butterfly (Sun.July 14) at the Arend Arts Center in Bentonville; also, a chamber music concert Monday July 15 at Holiday Island Community Church; and an evening of "Famous Opera Scenes” Tuesday July 16.
