Branson's Silver Dollar City theme park presents the "Bluegrass and BBQ" festival now through May 27. Awarded an "Event of the Year" citation by the International Bluegrass Music Association, the festival will feature mor ethan 40 bluegrass bands and hundreds of performances featuring some of today's top artists including Rhonda Vincent and the Rage, Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver, Blue Highway, the Boxcars, and the Gibson Brothers. Also, up-and-comers in the bluegrass world such as the Hillbenders, Monroeville, and the Snyder Family Band. "Bluegrass and BBQ" also highlights two national competitions, the 7th annual Single Mic Championship on May 18, and the "KSMU Youth in Bluegrass" competition on May 25, which promotes and encourages bluegrass musicians age 21 or younger.
