The Springfield Art Museum announces the opening of Watercolor NOW! 2012 on Saturday May 5th, an invitational exhibition showcasing work by members of the Watercolor U.S.A. Honor Society. The exhibit will feature 67 aqueous-media paintings by 67 artists from across the country. The mission of the Watercolor USA Honor Society is to focus national attention on the Springfield Art Museum as a repository for conserving, preserving and collecting watercolor paintings, and to promote interest in watermedia painting via the annual "Watercolor USA" exhibition. The Art Museum hosts "Watercolor NOW!" every four years. A small catalogue of the exhibition will be available, and most of the paintings are available for sale. A reception will be held, in conjunction with the opening of Watercolor U.S.A. 2012, on June 8th from 5:30 to 7:00 pm, hosted by the Southwest Missouri Museum Associates. "Watercolor NOW! 2012" will continue through July 8. The Springfield Art Museum is located at 1111 E. Brookside Drive, next to Phelps Grove Park.
