Springfield Contemporary Theatre at the Vandivort, 305 E. Walnut 4th floor, opens its 18th season June 1st through 16th with "Deathtrap," long-running Broadway comic-thriller by Ira Levin, writer of "Rosemary's Baby." Directed by Joe Bowman, it's the story of Sidney, a washed-up middle-aged playwright who invites Clifford, a younger writer to his rustic Connecticut home to discuss the younger man's first attempt to write a play. Sidney clearly covets Clifford's play, and we begin to have doubts as to whether Clifford will leave the premises alive. Performances are Fridays and Saturdays June 1st through 16 at 7:30pm, along with Thursday the 14th at 7:30 and two Sunday matinees, June 3 and 10, both at 2:00pm.
